A CAPPELLA PROGRAM TO BRING TOGETHER 1,100 STUDENTS TO SING

St. Louis, MO - September 20 & 21, 2016, 8:30am-1:30pm.

For fifteen years, Acappellooza Fall has been inspiring high school students to create a cappella music and has enhanced music education in schools across the St. Louis metropolitan area. Acappellooza is an a cappella music program geared toward high school students and sponsored by UMSL and the Ambassadors of Harmony. Over two days, students from across Missouri will converge on the UMSL campus to get coaching and training from world-renowned choral director Dr. Jim Henry. The first day serves 550 high school-aged boys; the second hosts an equal number of girls from the St. Louis area. The program explores several vocal music genres with selections from Thomas Tallis, the Rays, the Beach Boys and classic barbershop arrangements. All music and lunch are provided to students.

Bethanie Ward, vocal music teacher at Clinton High School (about a 4-hour drive from St. Louis), said, ”This is my second year in this district and am looking to give my students some great experiences in all aspects of choral music. I've been to this event once with a different group a few years ago and my students (and I) LOVED the experience. I'm looking forward to giving my girls this same experience this year!”

Acappelloza Fall began in 2002; 2016 marks the 15th annual festival for high-schoolers.
