We are pleased to announce Jonny Moroni will join Jim Henry in becoming co-director of the chorus. Henry, who has been musical director since 1990, recently was promoted to chair the music department at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Henry knew he'd face new challenges in his professional life and decided he needed some help. So he tapped Jonny, a natural pick to lead as co-director.
Jonny has been an integral member of the chorus since he joined AOH in late 1990s. Jonny is the baritone of Vocal Spectrum, the 2006 international quartet champs. He has been a leader in the chorus in countless ways including as a section leader, choreographer and associate director.
AOH is thrilled to have Jonny at the helm with Jimmy and we hope you'll join us in congratulating him.
Embedded here is a video taken by a visitor of our rehearsal in Toronto, Canada, in July 2013 for the Barbershop Harmony Society's international contest. The chorus thought the powerful ballad, "Somewhere," from West Side Story, would be a fitting and moving way to welcome Jonny as co-director. Jonny steps in front of the chorus toward the end to help Jim finish conducting the song.
