Three local groups are preparing to travel to Munich, Germany in early March to perform in Barbershop Musikfestival 2016. The main event of the biennial festival is the World Mixed Contest (for coed groups), and also includes the German Barbershop Quartet Contest, & the German Chorus Contest. The St. Louis groups are all past or present world or international champions and were invited to perform in the Show der Champions. The show will be broadcast live across Germany. The Musikfestival is expected to draw about 5,000 people from all over Europe.
The Ambassadors of Harmony (AOH) is the St. Louis area's premier men's a cappella chorus known for powerful and musically masterful performances. AOH took the silver medal at the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2015 international contest. The chorus has won gold three times, most recently in 2012 in Portland. The chorus was founded in 1963 in St. Charles and rebranded itself in 1991 as the Ambassadors of Harmony. AOH seeks to change the lives of audiences world- wide through artistic and emotionally-driven a cappella performances. AOH has sung for audiences across the United States and has also performed in Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Crossroads is a world champion a cappella quartet made up of four versatile, award winning vocalists. Crossroads was formed when four friends from four different states and four different international champion quartets came together to make a brand new sound. Two years later they were crowned the 2009 Barbershop Harmony Society International Championship Quartet. Since then they have produced three recordings, and have become one of the most sought after a cappella foursomes in the world, having already performed in Japan, Poland, Germany, France, Finland, the U.K., Spain and across the United States.
Double Date is a vocal quartet formed in 2012. They met in choir at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In March 2014, they won the Barbershop in Germany! World Mixed quartet competition. This St. Louis-based quartet consists of two couples: Michaela and Nathan, and Blair and Ravi
