Harmony STL
The Ambassadors of Harmony chorus was founded more than 60 years ago by just a couple dozen men. But as the chorus evolved over the decades, it sought to expand its membership and strengthen its mission of encouraging more singing, healing and harmony in our community. More than a decade ago, the chapter launched an all-voices youth ensemble called the Recruits. And in 2022, AOH helped start a vibrant new women’s chorus Visions of Harmony.
This fundamental shift toward greater inclusion helped grow our family of harmony-loving people. It also presented an opportunity to reimagine our identity as a chapter with a broader membership, wider reach and deeper influence.
Together, we settled on a name that speaks to welcoming everyone in harmony and sharing our passion for this unique, American art form.
We are proud to now call ourselves Harmony STL.
Our choruses’ collaborative spirit has enriched us all as passionate singers, friends and family. We strongly believe this art form, unlike any other, has the power to unite people in our communities.
The Recruits
The Recruits chorus was created under the umbrella of the Ambassadors of Harmony (www.aoh.org) with the sole purpose of creating a supported outlet for youth a cappella in and around the St. Louis area. Once a men's only group, the chorus has taken on a new form by turning the Recruits into a mixed chorus. With a strong emphasis on singing in the barbershop style (our roots), we are no stranger to choral, jazz, contemporary a cappella
Visions of Harmony
This auditioned women’s ensemble will continue our chapter’s commitment to musical excellence, impactful performances, and a fun and welcoming environment. While we will specialize in barbershop, the chorus will boast a wide variety of acappella styles. We will rehearse weekly and will perform in concerts and competitions throughout the year. We welcome singers of any age and background who can sing in tune, have a vocal quality that will enhance the overall ensemble sound, and joyfully embrace the hard work needed to create meaningful, musical artistry.
